ABOUT US

I am Christine, accompanied by Nicolas and our two four-legged helpers, Zserbo and Lufi. Since we moved in together, my passion for plants has gradually transformed our apartment into a jungle. It all started with a simple epipremnum, a gift from Nicolas to me, which I almost drowned. Desperate to save it, I started to seriously focus on indoor plant care as well as alternative substrates and care methods. This led me to semi-hydroculture as a good alternative.

Starting with epipremnums and monsteras, my love for houseplants expanded to philodendrons, calatheas and alocasias, to finally settle on anthuriums. Today, we have over 300 plants in our living room. I find it fascinating to watch the plants grow, raise them from a young age and even pollinate and propagate them. Every day, I walk around my little plant paradise, enjoy the sight and am happy for each little new leaf that emerges.

My dream is to be able to share my joy and passion. The goal is to make uncommon and rare  plants available to everyone at affordable prices. I hope you will appreciate the plants as much as I do and that you will let happiness grow in your home.

ABOUT OUR PLANTS

My plants are my joy and my passion. Every day I spend some time looking after my collection and enjoying my little jungle at home. My goal is to share this feeling of happiness and inner peace. The idea that my own plant hybrids, the plants that I have been breeding myself and cared for since their birth, can bring this joy to your home fills me with pride.

It is important to me that your plants feel comfortable in your home and do not require special conditions or experience any acclimatization shock to get used to it. That is why I keep my plants in our living room and not in a greenhouse. This means that even the most sensitive anthuriums are already accustomed to indoor conditions and you won't have any problems integrating them into your personal space
.

All my plants are grown with love. You will receive plants from my own breeding as well as cuttings and offshoots that I have grown myself. I do not buy plants for the purpose of reselling them. This means that the plants are purely from my own Swiss collection and my own  breeding program.

My breeding & my hybrids

My passion lies in anthuriums and the breeding of anthuriums. All the seedlings you find on the website are my own hybrids, my pride and joy. The first step is to carefully select the mother plants. I attach particular importance to the specific characteristics of my plants. This is primarily a very dark leaf color, a blue sheen, reddish veins and reddish new leaves. The leaf's shape and ease of care also play a major role.

The next step is to consider which mother plants work particularly well together and will produce beautiful characteristics in the resulting hybrids. The goal is to harmoniously combine the best characteristics of both plants.

Once the basic considerations have been made, the pollination phase begins. The best case is that both desired plants bloom almost at the same time so that I can pollinate them accordingly. However, since this is rarely the case, I have to harvest and store the pollen accordingly. This is best done with small brushes and pollen collectors, and stored in small pollen tubes in the freezer (if you would like to try it out yourself, feel free to send me a message for more information, you can find all the materials you need under the “Substrate and Care” section).

After the anthurium flower has been pollinated, it’s a case of waiting, waiting, waiting. The ripening time varies and is between 4 and 12 months per flower. You can tell that the flower is ripe when the berries turn orange-red and almost fall out of the flower. At this point, the berries can be harvested.

Each berry contains one or two seeds. The seeds must be thoroughly cleaned of the pulp, otherwise they can later become moldy. After cleaning, the berries are placed on substrate and kept warm under a plant lamp at high humidity to germinate. It can take another one to two months for the berries to grow into small plants.
